Say It By Heart explores the art of communicating with others — effectively and honestly sharing who we are, how we feel, and what we need from those around us.

Theresa Caldwell takes a high energy, entertaining dive into the ways we embrace each other with words and touch, but won’t shy away from tough talk when it’s needed. Anyone can successfully share thoughts the way a musician brilliantly shares a song. It just takes guidance and practice. A listener may not be able to take a song and play it by heart, but with Theresa Caldwell’s support they’ll be able to Say It By Heart.

“Those around us” range from lovers and children to colleagues and customers. We do a lot of talking, have several devices to help us talk and/or listen and we are bombarded by information. However, it’s still a challenge to be understood. And that’s the good stuff. What about when there’s bad news to share?

Theresa has more than 20 years of multifaceted media experience.

Currently, she is the producer/substitute host of WHUR-FM’s “The Audrey Chapman Show,” the top-rated relationship and self-help talk show based in Washington, DC.

Theresa also serves as deputy communications director in the office of Congressman Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. (D-IL), and as an on-site assistant to the regional publicist for the legendary Newport Jazz Festival (Newport, RI).

Theresa’s past media and public relations experiences include: co-host of “Business Her Way,” a live, daily talk show focusing on women’s business concerns on WDMV-AM and www.businessherway.net; producing UMTV’s (University of Maryland cable channel) award-winning special “David Driskell: The Symbolic Language of Art”; narrating a Public Radio International special on the late Texas Member of Congress Barbara Jordan; serving as an editor and on-air news anchor for Monitor Radio (The Christian Science Monitor radio service); producing and writing in the news departments of the CBS and NBC television affiliates in Boston, MA as well as New England Cable News (NECN).

In addition to her media work, Theresa uses her varied communications skills to augment her work as a life transition coach, workshop leader and political advocate, including serving as manager of Sandi Jackson’s winning campaign for alderman of Chicago’s 7th Ward, and press secretary for the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. Theresa is also an accomplished member of Toastmasters International, winning the 2005 District 27 Table Topics impromptu speaking contest (the highest level achieved in that competition). She has also earned the distinctions of Competent Toastmaster, Competent Leader and Advanced Toastmaster-Bronze while serving as a club officer for three of the last four years.

9.1.08-35: How to Improve Your Marriage…
Have a great Labor Day weekend! I hope you get through it without getting angry. It's easy to wind up angry... at people on the highway, at work or those you love. Love can even be possessive, controlling and dangerous. That's IF it is love without compassion. How do you fill yourself with enough compassion to cool the fires of anger, especially when you've never experienced much compassion-fueled love? Find out when I talk to the man who has literally written books on the subject, Steven Stosny, Ph.D. His most recent work: How to Improve Your Marriage Without Talking About It. Whether a team losing streak or the impact of sports on society, it can be tuff to SAY IT BY HEART! When you think about talking, do you really want to talk with someone who hates your favorite team? I admire people who are into their favorite team or sport. They keep the game interesting but some can be dangerous. This year, WOW... what a sports year. Our guest this week is David Steel, an award-winning columnist with the Baltimore Sun and co-author of two sports autobiographies: "Four generations of Colors" and "Silent Gester."

9.15.08-37: Health Disparities
We have to think and talk about health care in a different way. We've grown used to sending astronauts into space, yet we still can't figure out how to provide quality health care for every American. Plus, the system does not seem to be designed to care for our health. How can we cure what ails the American health care system? The in
spiring Dr. Gloria Wilder has some ideas. She's a pediatrician, and President/CEO.

9.22.08-38: How to bring money into our lives and manage it well.
The O'Jays had a big hit with the song “For the Love of Money.” They sang that “for a small piece of paper it carries a lot of weight.” And it seems like the less money you have, the more weight it has. So in times like now when more people are weighed down because they have less money, it helps to examine ways to change our thinking in order to change our bank accounts. How are you talking to yourself about wealth? How are you managing the money you have? Tune in for timely tips from financial adviser Gary Demirkan at garyd@bishopfinancialgroup.com.

9.22.08-39: Is it time for you take a giant leap forward?
Then youÕll need buckets of courage. Meet a man who literally has THREE buckets of courage you can work with, and they all have names! HeÕs Bill Treasurer, author of Courage Goes to Work. 9.29.08-40: How do you tell your father that the person who makes you the most angry is him?
For some people Father's Day means nothing, or it's their angriest day of the year. How do you admit to yourself that you are very angry at your father? What's more, how do you know if and when you should let him know about that anger? Even if your father is dead or you don't know who or where he is, it is possible to share your feelings with him — heal that anger — and live your life. Let Adeyemi Bandele of Men On The Move show you how. His email address is adeyummi@aol.com.
